Jelly Roll Rug - Sew a Jelly Roll Day
Just like you remember the rugs from your grandma's house, these rugs are wrapped and sewn using a Jelly Roll and your super power sewing skills!
All supplies are available in our store.
Jelly Roll Pattern (We will be doing the Round Version)
1 Jelly Roll of your Choice (42 strips of 2.5" x WOF)
Katahdin Batting - 2 1/4" x 50 yds.
LG spool of thread at least 1200yds. Consider variegated thread, it's so pretty!
Fabric Starch of your choice
Clover Tube Maker
Small Ruler (4x4)
Rotary Cutter
Seam Tape (Optional)
Blade Saver (Optional)
Marking Tool
Denim Needles
Prewound Bobbins (Its okay to wind your own)
Thread that matches your jelly roll. (This uses a lot of thread, so use something you can get more of if you run out)
Sewing Machine that can sew an adjustable zig-zag stitch, with a zig-zag Stitch plate.
Walking Foot - Make sure your walking foot has a zig zag space for the needle to move left and right.
A large sewing table attachment is highly recommended. It makes the construction of the rug much easier to manage.
**CLASS PREP**:
Before unrolling your jelly roll, take a moment to look at the color arrangement. This will give you a preview of how the rug will look if you choose to keep the strips in their original order. Once you're ready, arrange the strips in the color order that appeals to you.
Next, sew all of the strips together, end to end, using a diagonal seam. Make sure to keep your strips consistently aligned so that all seam allowances are on the same side of the pieced strips. If you need assistance, feel free to stop by the shop—we're here to help!

| Requirements: | Please bring your sewing machine in good working condition, along with its power cord, foot pedal, and manual. Your machine should be capable of making a zigzag stitch. A walking foot is highly recommended! If you have an extension table for your machine, it will be very helpful as well. |
